Law Of Attraction: How to Get Anything You Want in Life

Hi everyone,

This post is purely a stream of personal thoughts and conversations I’ve had on this particular topic that constantly interests me. Can we attract things we desire in life and avoid those that we don’t? Do we have control over bringing good into our lives and veering away the negatives?

I want to dive into the law of attraction. This is the idea that events that take place and things in our lives are attracted to us. But what does that really mean? The definition of attracting is the act of offering favorable conditions. So, this ideology is stating that we are making ourselves more prone to things that happen. BUT are we really responsible?

A pair of Youtubers I watch often refer to their mantra “thoughts become things”, where they discuss the power of positive thinking and how it can help you manifest all of your goals and dreams. This does put optimists at an advantage, but what about the rest of us?

We always believe that the universe is fair to us, where if we put out good vibes then the good will come back around to us in one way or another. Almost like Karma, but not exactly. Because here’s the thing, bad things do happen to good people. Just look at President Obama after the election. One of my friends says that its a test of character, but it’s how we react to these events that create the energy that comes our way. I’m one of those that struggle to shake it off when things go sour. I can attest that once I become salty, things only get worse. This dark cloud floats over me and follows me throughout my day, so my perception is just filled with more negativity. Another one of my knowledgeable woes shares that our energy picks up momentum. In her words, “the law of attraction works based on your habits and beliefs, so detrimental habits and beliefs will attract lame ass situations.” Someone once told me what we attract in our lives is broken down into a ratio. I believe its a ratio between our beliefs and our desire.

Now in Islam and other religions as well, its believed that our destiny is already written. God already knows every decision you’re going to make in life. However, our decision-making can still change our path. A couple of our choices can land us in a variety of situations in life, but The All-Knowing already knows our end results.

Some believe you can also manifest your goals by speaking them into existence. Continuously bringing it up in conversation gets people on board with you and rooting. However, this contradicts an idea that I’ve grown up with; if you REALLY want something, keep it to yourself so no one can take it away from you. Sounds harsh, but its true. It’s a dog-eat-dog world out there and you have to protect your dreams. Sharing your ideas also puts it out there to be taken. I do admire when I see people share their goals and work towards them. One thing that I’ve read in a few books is that we tend to downsize our dreams instead of aiming higher because of fear that we might look silly, but shit who cares. I think I fear the expectation that is created once you do share, because if you don’t reach these objectives then its a fail. The freak perfectionist in me does not handle failure well. I’d be lying if I said I plan for HK to always be just a blog, but I’ll share more once I am in a position to be brave enough.

I hope you enjoyed this post and always settle for more. Inshallah this year will be better than your last and we reach more success in our life. Until next time!
